In the preceding message is the statement of Martin Murphy. In his pension file is the marriage record to his wife Mary Steadman, daughter of Thomas Steadman (Thomas McCoon or MaCoon Steadman, son of Thomas and Hannah MaCoon Steadman).
Attached to his statement are witness statements of Samuel M. Coon and Daniel Coon. Anyone interested in the Coon surname might like to know about these.
Is the Coon surname a play off the MaCoon name, or is it a completely seperate family? Just wondering. Thanks
