Phillip,

Most of the Lamphear/Landphear families in the Westerly area descend from George Lamphear and Jane Hulet. The following books may help you with your research:

Lanphere and Related Families Genealogy. 1970 Revised Edition by Edward Everett Lanphere
Q292.2 L293L This book is also available in several major city libraries. Published in Chapel Hill, NC 1967. 264 pages. (note there are three versions of this book published. One of the others was published in 1967.) Genealogy and history: Lanphear, Lamphier, Lanphere and related families in America. Begins with George Lanphere. Brings some lines from George to the present, has data on possilbe origins of Lamphear and other such information. Also has a few lines listed with no known ancestors.

The Lanphere Family Research Aid. 1981 Revised Edition by Shirley M. Buckman, Published in Portland Oregan in 1981. 70 pages, includes index. Printed by Genealogiucal Forum of Portland, OR. Begins with George Lanphere born 1631 Berkshire, England and Wife Jane Hulet. Surnames of Allied families. Of interest: Shirly notes that her book is not copyrighted because it was meant to be copied.

You might also want to check out the Lamphear Genealogy website located at: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~lamphear/

Hope this will help!

Best Wishes,
Melinda A. Gardiner
