I am presently looking for my ancester by the name of Ruth who is married to John C.
Miller b. abt 1803 son of Samuel and Mary (Canniff) Miller, loyalist living in Lennox and
Addington Counties of Ontario, Canada.
JOHN C. AND RUTH MILLER had the following children: all born in Canada, poss. in the
Fredericksburg, Lennox and Addington Co., Ontario area
-Samuel J. Miller b. abt 1828 of Harbor Beach, Huron Co., Michigan
-Joseph Miller b. March 29, 1832 married to Mary Ann Dennee of Amherst Island of
Thousand Island
-Phebe L. Miller b. abt 1836
-Peter Miller b. abt 1838 a school teacher of Sanilac Co., Michigan
-Sarah J. Miller b. abt 1840
-Nancy M. Miller b. abt 1846
-John Canniff Miller, Jr. b. abt 1848 married to Rosella Yakes (or Yake) of Sanilac Co.,
Michigan
I first find my John C. Miller in the 1851 in Fredericksburg, Lennox and Addington Co.,
Ontario without Ruth listed, so possible death date is between 1848-1851.
On John Canniff Miller and Rosella Yakes marriage record is listed Ruth Clark and John
C. Miller.
I have found a Ruth Clark Slocum b. 11-9-1805 in Exeter, Washington, Rhode Island
daughter of Eleazer and Sarah (Crandall) Slocum who married a Miller (several listing
with various changes in name, all starting with J., which could be forms of John that was
changed as he was a son of a loyalist)
I have also found in the Michigan Gendis a listing for Ruth Clark Slocum married to a
Miller.
Does anyone have any information on Ruth Clark Slocum that could help me in my
research. I surely would appreciate it.
