Need help with vitals from Little Compton

I am trying to join the Mayflower Society. One of my ancestors is Captain Jeremiah Simmons (DAR) who is the son of John Simmons b. Little Compton 1727 and Lydia Grinnell b. Little Comptons 1726. Jeremiah was born in Little Comptons on April 8, 1747. Evidently my state historian says they no longer accept the book Little Compton Families or the Cattell Family of America without vital records to support the data that links Jeremiah to his parents. I have been unable to find the location of actual documents that would support these books. Would anyone have a suggestion? I would write and pay for copies or I would pay for someone to locate these and make copies if necessary. I just can't find where these would be housed since we are talking about the 1700's. Thanks
