I received from another researcher.The Annals of Trinity
Church.Newport,Rhode Island 1698 - 1821 by George Champlin
Mason 1890.
Chapter XvI 1803-1806
Meeting of the congregation,August 7.1803.Whereas,Daniel
Vernon sexton of the Church,hath resigned said office,voted:
that Uriah Gorton be sexton for the remaining part of the
year,to Easter Monday,and that he receive the same salary
and all other privileges allowed to said Vernon.

At a meeting of the vestry,May 5 1806 at Mr,Bours'S
Voted: that Mr.Gordon,the sexton of the Church have permission to new shingle the west side of the house he
occupies,at the expense of the Church,under the direction
of the Wardens.

Chapter XIX 1811 -1817
Easter Monday April 15,1811
Benj.B.Mumford,Clerk of the Vestry,Uriah Gorton,Sexton
Voted:that the salary of the clerk be fifty dollars per annum,and that of the sexton be thirty- nine dollars.

I did have the spelling wrong.but would welcome anything you may add.
