Gifford - Shearman Tiverton R.I. Mystery

I have mystery I am trying to clear up, hope some one can help me with it.
I have a will of Annaiah Gifford who mentions in his will written January 04, 1784, probated May 6, 1805:

" Further more I do order my son William Gifford to maintain my grandson Joseph Gifford, son of my son Stephen Gifford deceased, with meat, drink, washing, lodging, and apparel during his natural life, he being not capable to take care of himself. Further my will is that Rebekah Gifford widow of my son Stephen Gifford shall have free liberty to pass and repass from the dwelling house that she now lives in through the land that I have above given to my son William Gifford-----"
Then futher down:
"Item I give and bequeath unto my grandson Silas Gifford my gun to be delivered to him by my Executor immediately after my decease "
"Lastly I do hereby constitute, make and ordain my beloved son William Gifford to be Executor of this my last will and Testament."

Apparently everyone assumes that the grandson Silas is the son of Deceased Stephen son of Annaniah Gifford.
What everyone seems not to be aware of is that my direct line William Gifford the son who was the executer had a son Silas.
I have gone through every record I could think of at the Tiverton Town Hall, and I have not found anything on a son of Stephen named Silas.
There is a missing V.R. Book at the Tiverton Town Hall so a lot of the records are missing, and from what I have seen in the Arnold's Collection it was missing when he did his compiling.

Silas Gifford of Tiverton married Ruba [ Ruby Shearman] in Dartmouth Massachusetts Dec. 13, 1795.

There is a record for a death of a Silas Gifford age 59 in Dartmouth in 1826, however there is no mention of a wife, or where he was born, nor parents.

William's son Silas was alive at least up to 1831 for I found a land record with that date.

Does anyone have any documented proof that the Silas Gifford who married Ruby Shearman d. of Paul & Amy Curtain was actually the son of Stephen Gifford, [ s. of Annaiah] ?

One last thing I found interesting, that Silas Gifford and Ruby [Ruba]Shearman named one of their sons William, but no Stephen. One of their daughters was name Ruba.

Would appreciate hearing about it.
Thanks
Marge
