Richard,
Do you know of any SIMMONS who served in the Revoultionary War from Little Compton, R.I.?
Seeking help in locating SIMMONS parents of Little Compton, RI [Rhode Island] who moved to Schodak, Galway, and lower Rensselaer County, NY [New York] before 1790 farmering after the Revolution, who had a daughter, Magdalena ["Lany"] SIMON born in the 1770's.She was my paternal 5 great grandmother.
I have read that there were two Magdalena SIMON: one born 1772 and other one born 1777.
Thanks to Lin for these 3 census lookups:
Magdalena ("Lany") SIMMONS wife of Roswell PHILLIPS Sr.

[Lin can't explain why the 1855 NY State Census describes her as an "aunt" of John R. Phillips.John R. Phillips was "Lany"'s son. ]

Per Lin:
"Buried at Nassau-Schodack Cemetery in Nassau, Rensselaer Co NY are Rozzel Phillips, died 12 September 1838 ae 67y 11m 10d, and Magdalena Simmons wife of Rozzell Phillips, died 20 June 1865 ae 87y.
Rensselaer County Cemetery Database at http://www.rootsweb.com/~nyrensse/http://www.rootsweb.com/~nyrensse/,
which does include many burials at Nassau-Schodack Cemetery, does not have entries for these two gravestones.
So forename clues: George, Elizabeth, Magdalena/Helen, Maria and especially Rebecca could point to the Simmons side."
Thank you for your help,
Jan
