Thank you very much for your reply.
They are a very confusing couple.
Mortimer "Morty" was born in Dromkeare, Waterville Co. Kerry 11th April 1841 and died in Cranston 13 September 1905. He is buried in St. Annes Cemetery. He emigrated 1868.
On census returns he is married to Catherine born 1850 Ireland, 1900 census he states his marriage year as 1876. His parents were Daniel and Mary.
His wife Catherine R. died 5 March 1935, I have her death cert. It states her parents were Cornelius and ? Pierce, the informant was her cousin M. E. Morrissey of Providence.
I also have a copy of her will dated 1905, the executor Daniel Gorman had died and the letters of administration were taken out by a relation Joseph P. Morrissey in 1935.
Morty & Catherine had no children.
I suppose it is possible that the parents names on her death cert were wrong, but I doubt it as the informant was a cousin.
Rhode Island marriages 1869 - 1879
Spouse 1: Kate O'Neil
Spouse 2: Murtagh O'Donoghue
Marriage Date: 11 Aug 1874
Spouse 1: Catherine O'Connell
Spouse 2: Murtagh O'Donoghue
Marriage Date: 11 Jul 1880
Morty used the name "Morty" on census returns, death certificate, naturalisation record, street directories etc.
before emigrating he joined the RIC (Royal Irish Constabulary) in 1859, he was Morty.
I recently discovered his brother Michael J. who had emigrated to Philadelphia in 1888 a widower with 8 children.
