Coningford family name
I am seeking information of the Coningford family name. I believe the name was originally Irish but that it went extinct at the time of the Famine. The only time the name appears in readily available records is on a passenger list of a ship leaving Dublin for New York in 1851 (Julia Coningford). My connection is thru Canada from a John Coningford who was born there around 1825. I have found no records of how his family got there or from where they came. When they arrived in Rhode Island they spoke French which suggest that they lived in Quebec. The name now only exists in the US and all those that I have been able to contact know nothing about the family's country of origin. Any help of direction would be greatly appreciated.
