This is Charles F.9(Charles8, George7, Giles6, Edward5, George4-3, Thomas2-1) Manchester.
Charles F. Manchester (born ca1843) married first in Little Compton 6 March 1868, Hannah Crosby, daughter of John Luce and Sarah (Cowen) Crosby (1849-1897). She married, second, Charles Frederick Wilbur in 1894.
Charles F. married second in LC on 2 April 1891 Cornelia M. Mosher, daughter of Caleb Seekell and Mary Maria (Crosby) Mosher (thus a first cousin of his first wife through the Crosbys, who lived next door to both the Manchesters and Moshers).
In 1870 Charles F. Manchester was living on the west side of Long Highway between Amesbury Lane and Pottersville Road. I grew up in this area, and I think it was a grandson of Charles F. Manchester (surnamed Bodington) who was living on this property in the 1960s/70s.
It appears that Charles F. and his first wife were divorced. Neither wife would be Indian, but maybe the story was due to the fact that Caleb Mosher's place (who was his father-in-law) on Snell Road was, in the late 1700s and early 1800s, the last encampment of the remnants of the Sakonnet tribe.
In 1900 Charles F. Manchester is on Harbor Road in LC,living with his father, in 1920 he is on East (Main) Road, living with the sister of his second wife, her occupation listed as maid and his as stone mason. He was next door to Roy Wordell, who I remember and was a paperboy for in the 1970s.
In 1920 Charles H. Manchester, a house carpenter, lived on Highland Road in Tiverton, in 1930 he lived on Punkateest Neck Road (nowadays called simply Neck Road) and was a shipyard carpenter.
