Prudence (West) Salisbury, wife of Caleb, died at Rehoboth MA 9 July 1739.
I located a Rev. War Pension file for a Samuel Salisbury who may be the one you are looking for. This Samuel swore he was born in Rehoboth in 1746, although he had no proof of birth. He enlisted in Rhode Island at Scituate, Providence County;after the war, he lived in Scituate, Westmoreland NH, Windham VT and Chester, Warren Co., NY.The files last place him in [Warsaw?] Genessee Co. NY.He lived first with a son named Philip.Philip died in 1822 leaving a large family.Samuel then lived with his son, Samuel.Samuel's occupation was cabinetmaker and he also worked as a cooper. He stated that he had been unable to care for himself because of infirmity since 1816 and had had to rely on the County for support at times. He stated that he had no one living with him for whom he was responsible, so wife must have been deceased by 1818.One of the facts mentioned in his deposition is that he lost all his discharge and early pension papers when his home in Windham VT burned.Because Samuel stated he lived in Scituate RI for a time, I checked the records there. There were several Salisbury's living there but nothing caught my eye, except a marriage record:Samuel Salisbury of Swansey MA, mar. Sarah Hail, dau. of Barnard, of Scituate RI 27 Oct 1768.Perhaps the marriage of your Samuel? There is a Samuel Salisbury recorded at Scituate, age 16-50 and able to bear arms, in the 1777 Rhode Island Military census.
