I just realized another Cassidy was in N.Kingstown in 1880 next door to Thomas. He may be a brother or cousin. Here he is:

Source Information:
Census Place North Kingstown, Washington, Rhode Island
Family History Library Film 1255210
NA Film Number T9-1210
Page Number 354C

LDS had his marriage:
ROBERT CASSIDY
marriages:
Spouse: ALICE LUNNY
Marriage: 28 MAR 1869 Civil, Providence, Providence, Rhode Island

Maybe the RI archives has this marriage record. Again, it could give info on what part of Ireland he was from. I found the family in CT in 1900. They were in Middletown, Middlesex Co. Robert gave his immigration date as 1868. By 1910 Alice is a widow in the same town so you know Robert died in Middletown between 1900-1910. I haven't checked to see if Middlesex Co has a web page. I never ordered a death record from CT so I don't know what they charge. Just another avenue you can try if you get stuck. Patty
