THERE WAS A SEA CAPT. BENJAMIN ALGER AND WIFE MARY WHO RESIDED IN PROVIDENCE, R.I. IN THE LATE 1700'S AND EARLY 1800'S. BENJAMIN WAS BORN IN REHOBOTH, MA. ACCORDING TO CREW LISTS HE WAS 5'6", DARK COMPL. AND BORN ABT. 1743. HE HAD A DAUGHTER SARAH THAT MARRIED JOHN HOLMES, ALSO A SEA CAPTAIN.
