DONALD R. TURNQUIST SR., 56, of Hartford Pike died Monday at the Jane Brown Building of Rhode Island Hospital. He was the husband of Paula E. (Gallant) Turnquist.
Born in Putnam, Conn., a son of Hilda S. (Sodergren) Turnquist of East Killingly, Conn., and the late Arnold G. Turnquist, he lived in Foster for 33 years.
Mr. Turnquist was vice president of the Turnquist Lumber Co., a family business, and had worked for the firm since 1955. He was a former town tree warden. He was a former member of the Army Reserve. He was a member of the Family Motor Coach Association, and the International Country Coach Country Club.
Besides his wife and mother he leaves four sons, Donald R. Turnquist Jr. of Brooklyn, Conn., and Paul E., Michael D., and Christopher J. Turnquist, all at home; two brothers, Alfred G. Turnquist of Foster, and Douglas W. Turnquist of East Killingly; three sisters, Helen T. Besser of Westwood, Mass., Marilyn J. Beliveau of Coventry, Sylvia T. McPherson of Elwood, Ill., and three grandchildren.
The funeral will be held today at 10 a.m. at the Winfield & Sons Funeral Home, Route 116, Scituate. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park Cemetery in Johnston..
