Mr. Brackett -
Saw your posting concerning Simeon Brant/Brand, and thought I would pass on what I have.

I have a Simeon Brand as being born on 3/15/1759 as the second child of six children born to Robert Brand Sr. and Prudence Cottrell at Westerly, Washington Co., RI. Robert Brand Sr. was born abt. 1729 as the second child of Thomas Brand, and his second wife Sarah LNU. Thomas Brand, born about 1678, had a first wife, Elizabeth Babcock, whose children were: Thomas, abt. 1705; Isabel, abt. 1706; james, abt 1710; and my ancestor, Benjamin Brand Sr., br. 1713. Thomas 1678 was the son of Thomas, b. abt. 1645, Mass. to the first Thomas, b. abt 1610, and who arrived aboard the Lyon's Whelp, part of the Higginson Fleet, in 1629
Simeon's siblings were Robert Brand, Jr., b. 1757; Prudence, b. 1759; Thankful, b. 1760; Penelope, b. 1761; and Phineas, b. 1762.
Robert Jr., if I recall right, married and moved through Vermont to Upper New York State. Clinton County area, as did other of his siblings. Where Simeon and Phineas moved I don't know. Rod Brand is descended from Robert Brand, and may have more answers for you.

I descend from Benjamin Brand Sr., and his son Benjamin Jr. who moved west with his six sons to the Greene County area, near Rensalear (sp)NY. n the late 1700's.
You might find it interesting that I grew up in the Niles, Michigan, area. Niles is in Berrien county and is Michigan's second oldest city. It lies along the St. Joseph River, not far from Lake Michigan in the SW corner of the state, and was originally settled with a fort in the late 1600's. It was under four flags. French, Spanish, English, and of course, America. My family headed West from NY State in the late 1730's, and settled in newly opened federal lands in NW Indiana. About 60 miles from Berrien Co. As far as I can tell, they had no contact with other branches of the Brand family in that part of the country, and none im Michigan.
.

Good Luck in your search!
