I am curious about The Rhyne Family genealogy because my boyfriend, Quentin Rhyne, is a descendant. I am especially intrigued because Quentin is black, and the Rhyne name is rare--almost nonexistent--amongst African-American families in the U.S. He is absolutely clueless about his family history (although he is somewhat aware of his European ancestry--he has white second and third cousins), so I decided to do my own research.
Quentin is the son of James Rhyne, Jr. and the grandson of James Rhyne, both African-Americans of Baltimore. After a few searches on google, I came across a picture of James Rhyne Killian, Jr., former MIT president. My boyfriend (Quentin) has the same exact facial features as James Rhyne Killian, Jr.!!!!!! It is sooooooooooooooo scary. The EYES, the CHEEKBONES, the NOSE....the only difference is Quentin has some melanin, fuller lips, and coarse hair. I look at Quentin and then I look at this picture of Mr. Killian online...and I am 90% sure Quentin is a descendant of Mr. Rhyne Killian.
Does anyone have any information about Rhyne families in Maryland or further south? Does anyone know of any interracial relationships?
