LYNDA RUTH RHYNE
GASTONIA — Lynda Ruth Rhyne, 80, of 1351 Robinwood Road, died March 25, 2005, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.
She was a native of Whitakers, daughter of the late Jerry May and Mary Lena Fisher Etheridge.
FAMILY COMMITTAL SERVICE: Private
MEMORIAL SERVICE: 11 a.m. Monday following committal service, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church
VISITATION: 3-4 p.m. today, assembly room of Covenant Village; and Monday after the memorial service in the church parlor
She was a graduate of the Greensboro Women’s College, now known as UNC-G. A teacher for several years in Charlotte at Harding High and in Gastonia at Frank L. Ashley High. After marriage she became a mother, homemaker and active community participant. She was a lifelong and active member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Gastonia.
SURVIVORS: Her husband, Dr. Howard Sloan Rhyne; three daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Elizabeth “Libby” Rhyne and Eddie Herring of Boone, Lynda Ann Rhyne and Jim Mauney of Salem, VA, Margaret Louise Rhyne and Les Miller of Gastonia; three sisters, Lena E. Hirsch of Savannah, GA, Juanita E. Daughtridge of Orlando, FL, and Corinne E. Landis of Rocky Mount, N.C.; six grandchildren, Ashley Herring of Hickory, Caroline Herring Hollars of Zionville, NC, Mem Mauney of Charlottesville, VA, and Chris, Brett and Mary Leslie Miller, all of Gastonia; a great-grandson, Kyle Monroe Hollars of Zionville, N.C.; and a number of nieces and nephews
