Thank you for responding. After I posted the message I confirmed that her name was Palatyre Ryan from some of her children's death notices and estate records. In 2 documents I found her name spelled Palatiah, which is a common first name of women from Wilkes Co. GA.I have been working on her for over 2 years and it has been very hard to track her because her name has been mangled over the decades with so many different spellings. And as important as she was in the Dooley family, no one seemed to care much about her history.
I suspected she was the daughter of Richard Ryan of Washington Twp, Preble Co. OH because of their proximity to the Dooley's and Railsbacks.I had plans to go to Preble Co. OH in April to see if I could find any records on the Ryans that might mention her.
I thought she may have come from the Wilkes Co. GA Ryans who lived near the Dooleys who are close cousins of the Preble Co. OH Dooleys. Both Dooley lines came from Bedford Co. VA and then separated going to OH and GA.Supposedly there was a Dooley from the GA group who migrated to Preble Co. about the time the Ryans showed up in the Preble Co. records in 1814. These Dooley's are well documented in 3 books and in the Presbyterian Church.
Palatyre is the matriarch of the Grant Co. IN Dooleys. After her husband Moses died in 1850 she moved with 12 children to Grant Co., IN.A lot of her direct descendants still live there, and her son Moses B.'s house still stands. We are in the process of restoring her and her children's graves in the Marion IOOF Cemetery and the Raypholtz/Overman/Maple Grove cemetery in Sweeetser IN.
I would love to share the information I have on the Dooleys with you.
Again, thank you for responding.
