My name is Pat Dandrea. My grandmother, Iva Jane Rhyne was born at Seventy Six, Mo. She is the daughter of John Rhyne. John Rhyne's tombstone is in the Old Shiloh Lutheran Church yard. There are 25 Rhyne's buried in this cemetary. John and Mary Jane Rhyne's, (my great grandparents) home was located just a bit further down the road from this church. John Rhyne's parents were Rule Rhyne and Elizabeth Hughey.
There is a cemetary census obtainable from the Perry Coulnty Historical Society, P.O. Box 97, Perryville, Mo.63775 John Rhyne's parents were Rule Rhyne and Elizabeth Hughey. The following quote is from that publication:
"From Perry County Court Records we found that on 5 May 1862 .275 acres of land were deeded to Shiloh Trustees Solomon Cline and John Wilkerson by James F. Swan and his wife, Manerva. On the 26th of July that same year William Thompson and his wife, Catherine, deeded 2.65 acres of land to trustees Frank Ryan, Joseph F. Hughey, James F. Swan and Daniel Rhyne. In 1901 John Schlicting purchased. 35 acres of land from the trustees of the church, leaving a total of 2.925 acres today." This is a lovely little county church with bell tower above the entry. My mother Nora Maude Dempsey (nee Crowder) was baptised in this church 17 June, 1917.
