Many thanks for your recent info. I have had another close look at the Jean Phimister from Forres and decided to disregard her. Obviously the one you gave me is mine ie:- Jean Phimister daughter of John Phimister and Margaret McKay born in 1789. On the Census she does say she was born in Llanbryde and her age also fits with that on the Census. Also, following the naming conventions of that time her first daughter appears to have been named after her maternal grandmother. (I had been looking to see if my Alexander was named after his grandfather but obviously not.I gather there were just lots of Alexander Rhinds!!!).
Since my last posting to you I have found the date of birth of my Alexander Rhind. Following your suggestion on one of your postings that there was info on the Rhinds of Moray on libindex.moray.gov.uk I had a look---and hey presto there he was!! Thanks!
Ref no:- NM256832 Alexander Rhind son of Charles Rhind and Jean Phimister born 9th August 1831 at Port Cummingston.
I hope someone can unearth the marriage record of Charles Rhind and Jean Phimister one day. Like you, my hunch is that he was most probably the one born in 1804. It wouldn't surprise me if Charles was several years younger than Jean. After all they appear to have lived in a very small community and may not have had a lot of choice!
Thanks for your help,
