Teresa,
The Rheas and Rays are intertwined. My family spells the name Rhea. However, the 1850 Arkansas Census lists my family's name as Ray.Apparently, the census takers often spelled the names by sound. Thus, I'm not sure if the Rheas ever officially changed their name to "Ray."

Do you have any other info on Mary Elizabeth Ray?My family tree contains a Mary Elizabeth Rhea approx. 1864-1865.whe married William Starnes and resided in Williamson Co., TX.However, in my family tree, both "Mary" and "Elizabeth" are common names. The family lived in Wayne County, Tennessee, among other places.Moses Rhea and Anna Austin had a daughter named Mary.Moses Rhea.Moses' parents, Ezekiel Rhea and Elizabeth Pryor had a daughter named Mary Rhea.Today I learned Ezekiel's parents, Moses Rhea and Elizabeth Morris had daughters named Mary and Elizabeth.More Replies:
