The Rev. Claude Swanson Reynolds, 88, Rosedale, VA,
formerly of Richlands, VA, passed away Friday, May 22,
2009, in a Richlands hospital.
Born in Russell Co VA, he was the son of the late Charlie
Edward and Nora Lee Addison Reynolds.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by
his first wife, Della Marie McGlothlin Reynolds; his
second wife, Verda Mae Reynolds; one granddaughter, Sheri
Lynn Cox Combs; two sisters, Lullia Griffith and Dorothy
Monk; and three brothers, Jeff Reynolds, Will Reynolds,
and George Wilbert Reynolds.
Rev. Reynolds is survived by daughters, Margaret Reynolds
of Rosedale and Louise Messick and husband Joe of
Goldsboro, NC; one son, James Charles Reynolds of Cedar
Bluff, VA; two stepsons, Danny A. Arnold and wife
Stefanie, and Ricky R. Arnold, both of Roanoke, VA; three
sisters, Anna Mae Hess of Cedar Bluff, VA, Pauline Ball of
Cedar Bluff, VA, and Mary Monk of Richlands, VA; two
brothers, Clyde Reynolds of FLA, and Henry Reynolds of
Richlands, VA; ten grandchildren; eighteen great-grand-
children; one great-great-grandson; and several nieces and
nephews.
The family will receive friends at the Singleton Funeral
Service in Cedar Bluff, VA, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday,
May 24, 2009.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Monday, May
25, 2009, at the Singleton Funeral Service Chapel in Cedar
Bluff, VA, with the Rev. Audie Allen and Sister Nancy Keen
officiating.
Burial will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens
Cemetery at Claypool Hill, VA. Grandsons and friends will
serve as pallbearers.
