Much confusion has arisen between the different revell families perhaps due to the actual county names that many of the Revell families lived.
The Virginia Eastern Shore was originally called Accomacke County but in 1642 underwent a name change to Northampton County. Later (1662) Northampton County, Virginia split into two counties: Northampton to the south and Accomack to the north. These two counties remain the only Virginia counties on the Easten Shore as the remainder of the Shore is in Maryland and Delaware.
Isle of Wight county in Virginia was also split into two counties: Isle of Wight and Southampton Counties. Southampton county lies bordering on Surry and Isle of Wight counties. And these are the territories that John Revell of Henrico lived.
In 1741 Northampton County, North Carolina was formed from Bertie County.Northampton County, North Carolina is located in the northeastern section of the State it is bounded by Southampton County, Virginia to the North and should not be confused with Northampton County, Virginia which is on the Eastern Shore. None the less, this is what many folks have done and this fact often leads to mis-information and confusion when tracing the Revell clan.
Other counties formed in this area are as follows:
In 1746 Johnston County was formed out of a portion of Craven County.
In 1779 Wayne County was formed out of the Western half of Dobbs County.
In 1791 Lenior & Glasglow Counties were both created out of the remaining Eastern half of Dobbs County and Dobbs County ceased to exist.
In 1799 Glasglow County under went a name change and is now called Greene County
So today Wayne County is located in the Eastern part of North Carolina and is surrounded by Johnston, Wilson, Greene, Lenoir, Duplin and Sampson Counties.
John Revell's family moved throughout much of this land while migrating south to Darlington South Carolina.
John Revell of Henrico is the progenitor of this line which continuously moved south for the first 50 years moving from Henrico [Surry] to Isle of Wight to Southampton then to Northampton County in North Carolina and on to Wayne County before settling in the Darlington, South Carolina area.
John Revell of England was transported to Henrico County, Virginia by Robert Elam in 1652.

The most important factor mentioned in your response is of course the deed stating that your Edmund Revell is the son of Joseph John Revell. This single fact places you squarely in the John Revell of Henrico line.Good job.
