Belle Vernon's 1961/2 Sesqui Centennial Phamphlet shows some pictures of the Reppert Store in lower Belle Vernon and perhaps some of your ancestors. Do you have any more pictures on the Reppert family that operated the Furniture Store or Undertaker business in Belle Vernon? There will be a Bicentennial book 2011/2 that I am preparing for. There should be Repperts buried in the North Belle Vernon cemetery founded in 1859 in the old and perhaps new sections or in surrounding cemeteries. If anyone has any of the undertaker records, I would appreciate a copy. Rumor has it that Reppert acquired my ancestor Noah Speers's funeral business about 1856.
This is an invitation to those Reppert's wishing to take part in the bicentennial celebration. One of the original pictures of Reppert's store shows it decorated for the Centennial Celebration 1911/2 or the opening of the new Belle vernon (horse bridge) in 1895. William Eberhart operated the large glass plant in BV about 1855. It was the largest in the world at the time and supplied by new gas discoveries nearby. They probably used pipes made out of logs. William Eberhart's daughter married another one of my Noah's who relocated to Cincinnai, OH where there was a large warehouse. It burnt down and William went out of business. William's father Adolph Eberhart was the primary glass pioneer in the Mon Valley with plants up and down the river in Monongahela, Fayette City, Newell or nearby, etc.
Tom Speers formerly from BV.
