Jimmy Renslow Jimmy Proctor Renslow, 60, passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2008, at home with his loving family by his side. While attending Scottsboro High School in Alabama, Jimmy worked for Johnson Super Market where he learned his trade as a meat cutter. After graduation, in 1966, he moved with his family to Chattanooga and went to work for Red Food Stores. At the age of 40, his career was prematurely ended at Pruett’s Food Town as a meat market manager, because of his fight with diabetes. Seven years ago, Jimmy’s dream of living on a farm came true when he moved to Niota, Tenn., with his daughter, Michelle and her family. Despite failing health, he enjoyed his simple life of farm living. Jimmy will be remembered for his love of Alabama football, Southern Gospel music, his animals, singing in the church choir, and for his wonderful sense of humor. Jimmy had a servant’s heart and whenever his sisters needed help with yard work, all they had to do was call and no matter how bad he felt, he was there to help. He never let his struggle with diabetes keep him down. Jimmy’s life was marked by his strong devotion for God and his Christian faith. One unique aspect of his faith was his ability to look beyond denominational lines and focus on the common aspects of the Christian faith. He was a man full of generosity and was a walking example of Jesus’ story of the widow’s mite. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Renslow; his father, Bill Renslow; his grandparents, Herbert and Belle Proctor; and his brother, William Renslow. Jimmy is survived by his daughters, Michelle (Henry “Destry”) Britton and Rebekah Renslow; son, Jimmy Wayne (Gayla)Renslow; brother, Phil (Ann) Renslow; sisters, Ginger and Mary (Hal) Fix; the niece he loved like a daughter, Sherry (Tony) Layne; his grandchildren, Jenny Williams, Dylan and Lee Britton, Boe, Mac and Leia Grace Renslow; great-grandson, Blaze Britton; and other nieces and nephews, J.R. and William Fix, Andrew and Bethany Renslow. Jimmy wanted his body donated to medical science, in hopes of finding a cure for diabetes. There will be a Celebration of Life at 7 p.m. today at Beulah Chapel Church of the Nazarene on Highway 68 (Sweetwater exit) in Niota, Tenn. His pastor, Jon Amspaugh will officiate. Memorial contributions can be made to Beulah Chapel Church of the Nazarene, 270 County Road 231, Niota TN 37826, or American Diabetes Association, 211 Center Park Drive, Suite 3010, Knoxville, TN 37922 Notify Administrator about this message?
