Hi again Charlotte,
Am I correct your Nicolas was bapt in St Martins in 1801.What names , dates, parishes do you have for sibs of Nicolas were they all St M ? Was Thomas who m Judith Marquand also bapt / m /buried in St Martins as well?
Were Rachel Roberts parents also from St Martins? If so that suggests your inf. is right and mine wrong.
I am confident that my Nicolas was bapt Town Church in 1803 [as this came direct from parish record ]but I'm now NOT confident of the unproven marriageto Rachel Robertat St Martins [ this could well have been wrongly attributed to my Nicolas by my cousin].
There were certainly a large number of people with the same name who were undoubtedly related at some point.
I've looked through all my Renouf's and only found one in St Martins [ other than the questionable Nicolas] He was Henri b 29 4 1798 St Andrews who died 27 3 1842 and was a carpenter living at Les Hubits. He married Margeret Martin 8 6 1818 at St Andrews. [I got this from Ms Gallienne] He was youngest brother of my ggggf Nicolas and s o another Thomas.!
I think Ms Gallienne will have done her homework and got your Nicolas right.
I was hopeful I had found the missing descendents of Thomas and Marie Machon but it seems I had a weak link; perhaps we can find the link further back. Wonder about your Thomas and Judith Marquand parents?
regards Jacky
