Will of James Rennells
4 Sept 1770 , Stafford, Tolland Co., Connecticut
In the name of god amen: This 4th day of September AD 1770 - - - I James Rennells of Stafford in the County of Hartford in the Colony of Connecticut in New England: Being weak in body but of prefect mind and memory blessed be God: Yet calling to mind the mortality of my body and that it is appointed for all men once to dye I do make and ordain this to be my last will and testiment that is to say principally and in the first place I give and recommend my sale into the hands of God that gave it and my body I recommend to the earth to be buried with a decent christian burial, nothing douting, but that I shall receive the same again at the general resurection by the mighty power of God - - the as touching such worldly goods and estate as God hath blessed me with in this life, I dispose of in the following manner, that my just debts and funeral charges be paid out of the movable estate and in the next place I give and bequeath unto my well beloved wife Marcy the use and improvement of all my lands with the buildings there on standing together with all my indoor and outdoor movables to use and improve for her own benefit as long as she shall live my widow and at her death or marriage, my will is that my son James shall have the home farm that I now live upon, which I give to him and to his heirs and assigns for ever - - - - - and in the next place after the death or marriage of my said wife I give to my grandson: Benjamin Rennells that lot of land lying north of Mr Abijah Bixby's home farm and adjoining said farm and about fifty acres both same more or less together with all my other outlands. I give to my said grandson Benjamin and to his heirs and assigns forever - - - - and in the next place after the death or marriage of my said wife I give to my granddaughter Katherine Rennells and to her heirs and assigns all my indoor and outdoor moveables - - - - - and I do hereby constitute and appoint Isaac Pinney, Esq. also Stafford and my beloved wife Marcy -- to be my executors to this my last will and testament and what is above written I pronounce and declare to be my last will and testament the day and year above mentioned: Signed Sealed Published and delivered by the said James Rennells to be his last will and testament - - - - In the presence of Daniel Alden, Abijah Bixby, Anna Bixby.
