Chick,
I corresponded with an individual on the Skates message board. The Mary Renne in question was probably a daughter of Rynier Skates/Skaats and was a widow of William Renney. Whether or not William is part of our family is not known and I don't care enough to explore this. You, however, may wish to pursue this.
I'm now 70 & getting forgetful. Don't trust myself to do any further research.
