Isaac Renfro of Sabine Co Tx wasn't married to Priscilla Dixon!
I keep running across queries and websites where people state that Isaac Renfro's wife was Priscilla Dixon, whose mother was Sylvia Boothe was the wife of Isaac Renfro. Let me set you people straight, she was not his wife!
Priscilla Dixon Murphrey was the daughter of David Dixon and Sylvia Boothe. She married Willis Murphrey (listed in some Sabine Co records as Murphy) in 1813 in Amite Co Ms.
If you'll reference the 1836 Republic of Texas census, the Murphrey's (I think they're listed as Murfee) are living next to Isaac Renfro and his wife Priscilla, not Priscilla Dixon.
However I found in the 1850 Sabine Co Tx federal census a woman by the name of Sylphia Renfro is living with the widow Priscilla Murphrey. I believe this is her mother Sylvia Boothe Dixon Tynes, who could possibly be Isaac's wife?
Priscilla also had a younger sister Martha Dixon who was a minor child when their father died in 1813, and we've never determined who she married. Could she have been the Martha Dixon who married David Renfro?
My husband descends from Elizabeth Murphrey who was married to James Sloan Deweese. I have the original copy of the final partition of Willis Murphrey's estate dated 1859, and Priscilla is still listed as Priscilla Murphrey. I also have a certified copy from the state of Arkansas of Elizabeth Murphrey Deweese's death certificate listing her parents as Willis Murphrey and Priscilla Dixon.
