Hi Everyone,
I have a question - Does anyone know where "Straight Fork", Wayne County, WV,is located? I just curious as we are "Wayne Countians" and I have never heard of it.
I know where "Stiltner" used to be - Was a small village near the East Lynn Lake Area and I understand it was "taken down" by the US Army Corps of Engineers when East Lynn Lake was constructed.
My Dad, living at age 91, remembers "Aunt Lucinda" Perry Ramey and her husband, "Uncle Ike" (Isaac) Ramey. Who is "John M." b. 1836 m. to Lucinda Perry?
Also, as most of you are aware, until WV became a State, our ancestors lived in Pike Co, KY (area later becoming Wayne County, WV).
Address for "Miniard" (pronounced by family members as "minyerd"), per death certificate, was shown as Wewanta, WV - a post office that was closed many years ago,
was located near Kiahsville, WV, Kiahsville being located near Stiltner - the "elders" referred to the area where the Wewanta post office was located as "over there on Big Laurel" (family legend has it the post office was named "Wewanta" as the residence said, "We want a" post office.
