We were sent a extract from the Rutland Herald in Wallingford, Rutland county, VT. It shows the marriage on 3-9-1819 in Wallingford by EF Johnson, esq., John Congdon, Miss Phebe Remington. We have been looking for Phebe's maiden name for months. Now can anyone tell me for sure who her parents were? I found a possible couple on rootsweb. Jonathan and Martha(Sprague) Remington their list of kids showed Phebe born 1799, which fits our Phebe. Does anyone have information on this Phebe?
John & Phebe stayed in VT long enough to have two or three of their children there. Esther Ann, Gilbert, and Adaline for sure. Then we think they either moved to New York or Canada for a while. They also went to IL. Then Phebe vanished between the 1850 IL census and 1860 WI census. John moved to WI. We have no idea if Phebe left him or died.
