Carol I cannot believe that it has taken me so long to re-visit this site! I don't recall getting a message that you had posted a message. Anyway I have been researching the Crampton name in Cranbrook for about 3 years and have checked all of the original parish records. I can confirm that your Robert was christened on 31st Jan 1755 to John and mary Crampton. Robert had quite a few siblings including Elizabeth (chr 21st oct 1749),Anne (chr 27th Jan 1758),Sarah (chr 2nd AUg 1760 in a private service, Hannah (chr 25th Dec 1762), N.B. another Hannah (chr 12th Jun 1764), James (chr 7th Apr 1770). I have checked my marriages records but can find no Cranbrook entry for Robert and Jane Butler Crampton (the ususal problem!) nor do John and Mary appear to have married in Cranbrook. I am fairly sure than Jane, daughter of Robert and Jane (chr 12th Sep 1786) is buried in Cranbrook cemetery as I noted her name on the gravestone which appears to have been erected by the Crampton family (circa 1834). Phebe was chr on 1st June 1789. I cannot help with the Hayward name although I have seen it in the records. Notify Administrator about this message?
