Donald Rutherford
Hello everyone - hope that maybe one of you might be able to help.My ggrandmother on my mother's side of the family was suppose to have been a Rutherford (at least that's the way it is spelled in the marriage records for Sharp County -however my ggrandmother's sister who got married in Fulton County had her last name spelled Relleford (the two counties are connected on the county seats are only about 13 miles from each other). The only other reference that I've been able to find to the father was on the death record for my ggrandmother which listed her father as Donald Rutherford and there was a listing for a D. L. Rutherford in the tax records for Independence County (the county that my gggrandmother should have been in about the time she married (? as their doesn't appear to be records in this county) D. Rutherford.I don't seem to be able to find any D. Rutherfordsthat match on the Census records for the 1860 or 1870 census. My gggrandmother would probably have married this individual sometime after 1865 when her previous husband (whom she had at least two children by {a Mr Lemuel Wright Jr} died in the Federal prison at Little Rock, AR during the Civil War - she apparently married a Daniel Dobbs around 1877.My grandmother was born around 1871 and her sister around 1872 and their was another child born around 1876/7 who may have been actually Daniel Dobbs' child but she must have died early as I have no record of her.Anyway, my leads for this Rutherford/Relleford are almost non as I can't seem to place them in any 1870 Census for the closest counties nor in the marriage records and I don't know if he also died.I sometimes wonder if perhaps he was a notherner who maybe was a Union member (her first husband was confederate).Anyone have any ideas or records for the following member person (Nancy Ann (Harmon (maiden name) Wright Rutherford/Relleford Dobbs??? Thanks for any help received.Bob King
