On my REISWIG/TEBELIUS Branch of the family, we go back to a different Conrad Reiswig who was born in Crimea, moved to South Dakota and died in Lincoln Valley North Dakota .We don't know his parents, but his children were born from 1862 through 1887 in Russia and Milltown South Dakota.I assume this puts him in the same group as your Conrad, I would think they would be cousins. (or?) He had a son Johann (b. feb. 25, 1862 in Russia, d. in 1902) who married a Katherine Reiswig, probably in South Dakota since his family immegrated in 1876, and was in Milltown SD in time for the birth of his brother David Reiswig on January 29th 1876
Our patriarch, Conrad REISWIG, was born in"The Krim" Russia and his wife Kathrene Hoff (father; Wilhelm Hoff, mother; Wilhelmina Reimche), also from South Russia,(according to our family history), were German citizens, and having adopted protestantism, were persecuited for their faith. When Catherine the Great offored land in South Russia (recently taken from Turkey by war), They thought the offor was too good to pass up.They were promised free practice of their religion, and exemption from the Russian draft, so they joined several families from Germany who went at the same time to the Russian Colonies.
These families incuded, Ludwig and Marie Elizabeth (KAFTAN)TEBELIUS's, Jacob and Anna Marie REISWIG's decendents,(Jacob had come from Germany and died in Russia, but his wife, Anna Marie SEIB was also born in Germany, but died in South Dakota after having had a total of 4 husbands in this order: FLUKRODE, ORD, Jacob REISWIG, and Michael BECHTHOLD) , William and Wilhelmina HOFF, Fredrick SUELZE's, Carl BAUMBACH's , Conrad REIMCHE's, Heinrich OLENBERGER's, John HAGEN's. All of these families, and more, intermarried repeatedly on my family tree.I am looking for more on any of them.
Conrad's daughter Charlotta (b. 1-20-1873 in The Krim, Russia, and her husband, George TEBELIUS, also from South Russia, have many decendants in ND, SD, Ca, Or, Wa, Ne, Canada, Mn, Ws, and some in Ia, Oh, N M, Tx, Mo. Co, Ct, Pa, and Az.
I am looking for information on all of these immigrant families as I would like to extend our information back more completly to Russia, and also into Germany.I will share what I have too.
