Hi, Karen,
thanks for posting ... not too many seem interested.I was aware of the two Ludwigs, and have come to the conclusion that the Sullivan County history was incorrect. In fact, I have found the closest thing I could fine to a "smoking gun" as to the elder Ludwig's wife's history. The traditional history showedErnst Ludwig's wife being a Christina Hendricks, but non of the published histories delineated her ancestry. When reviewing the original sources cited in the published Reinbold histories, I noted that Ernst (whom I confirmed was a indentured servant in Norrington (now East Norriton Township, PS)) lived nearby a Cornelius Hendricks.Although the names were similar, I do not like conjecture. So, researching the Hendricks name, I found a Cornelius had two kids ... Benjamin and Christina.Still not good enough to me.So I retrieved Benjamin's last will, and found he owed money to a Ludwig Reinbold. This was enough for me.I am now content to believe Ernst Ludwig married Christina Hendricks, daughter of Cornelius Hendricks and Mary Bean, and that the reference in the Sullivan county history is incorrect.
I would be interested in knowing what information you have.I also have info from an 1800's interview that seems to confirm Ludwig Sr. arrival in North America as a shanghaied indentured servant .. son of a fairly wealthy father in Zweibrucken. But no one seems to have found any info for the family in Germany.Would you have any Germany info on the Reinbolds?
