Reimer Family Genealogy Forum

Hi, Phyllis. Thanks for the info. on Klaas R. Reimer. I am wondering if there were different generations of Klaases and I'm sure there were. I have been interested in the Klaas Reimer who founded the Kleine Gemeinde and the dates for him in several sources on the net precede the Klaas born in 1837. However, I have reason to believe that some biographical info has been blended over the generations as well based upon what the 'Reimer Book' has to say. I have a Klaas Reimer as founder of the KG being born in 1770 in Prussia, having a first wife pre-deceasing him named Maria Epp and re-marrying a Helena von Riesen in 1806 after he had immigrated to South Russia. The 'Book' for Klaas R. has a first wife Katharna Willms and a second wife Helena von Riesen. There can be no more than two generations between Klaas and Klaas R. and I am almost certain that they are directly related but the bio info is a little muddied here. Still, it's kind of cool to feel a significant part of Mennonite history. The KG founded Steinbach, Manitoba and is today known as the Evangelical Mennonite Conference. I'll talk to you later! Love, Don
