This is my great-great-great-grand-mother. Where was she born and baptised? When and where did she marry? How many children did she have? Where did she live? How did she die and where is she buried? Where did she go to school?
I had a look at the McGillycuddy MSS in the NLI but they were all only 17th and 18th century original documents and the only ones named are O Sullivans, O'Lynes, McCarthy’s, McGillycuddy and a few others (but mostly these). No Galvin or Gallivan named in any of the MSS. Some Connors (Thomas and Charles 1777) and Breens (Ellen 1777 and David 1707) named but though in Parish of Knockane I have no way of linking them to mid/late 19th Breens/Connors. There must be more MSS of this sort in the possession of The McGillycuddy but there does not seem to be anything after 1800 in the NLI or NAI. I was hoping to find Estate Papers showing tenants.
I did check various school "registers" in the NAI which deal with the schools Paddy mentioned but unfortunately none are school pupils rolls but only regsiters dealing with the running of the school. There are some pupil rolls amongst the National School records in the NAI but having ordered up two registers to do with the different schools there was no list of pupils. These records drive the workers at the NAI mad because people order up these files always expecting pupil rolls but as I say those things are few and far between. They are probably still in the schools.
