Let me begin by saying I know nothing about this family.I do have something in my unconnected Reed family file that may be of help to you.

White, The National Historical Publishing Co., Waynesboro, TN, 1992, p. 2838:"Reed, John or John Reid, Elizabeth, SC Line, R8656, sol signed p.o.a. 29 Dec 1792 in Greenville [Co] SC, a daughter Rachel Carpenter appl 18 Jul 1853 Garrard Co KY aged 65 & stated her parents were m in the County Down in Ireland about 1773 & sol d in Feb 1808 in Garrard Co KY & his wid d there 3 Jul 1843 & she stated she was the only surviving child of dec'd sol & wid, sol & wife had 1 child aged about 2 yrs when they came to America & settled in Greenville Dist SC & late moved to KY, one Richard Kirkendall m sol's oldest daughter (not named) & moved to Garrard Co KY"
