I'm not a Reid researcher but the following was sent to me last week and may be of interest to someone.

In 1848 John M. Ashcraft petitioned the court for guardian ad litem of his daughter Nancy as an heir thru her deceased mother of her portion of David Chambers' land holdings. In the petition among David Chambers' heirs were named:

"his daughters viz Martha wife of Sam'l Reid, Caroline Chambers since intermarried with Gregg Reid and Elizabeth Chambers since intermarried with John M. Ashcraft"

It was a 107-acre tract of land adjoining lands of Samuel Reid and Joel Ashcraft among others that was the object of division for Chambers' heirs.
