I think we are connected! Our Reichert (spelled Richert in our family records) was from Baden, Germany also, and immigrated to Ohio in the 1830s. Some of the family moved on to Northern California in the 1850s.
John (or Jacob) Richert and Lisbeth Reibel were married in Baden, Germany (date unknown, she was from Hohenhurst - d. Cincinnatti 1881)and had 6 children, Elizabeth (m. Joseph Marhoffer), Barbara (m. Hurst), John C. (m. Gohring, my grandparents), Jacob, George, and Mary (m. Farbach). There are several John and Jacob Richerts in the info I have - probably cousins. One John, who was married to Eva Barbara Hartman, had a daughter Caroline who married Edward Straub in Crescent City, CA in 1878. I have quite a bit of info on the CA group, but nothing on the ones who remained in Ohio - will be happy to share what I have!
