Reichenberg in Sweden and Norway - possible name origin
Posted by: JHA (ID *****0147) Date: January 02, 2003 at 15:10:35

My grandmothers maiden name was Reichenberg, Greta Elisabeth, 1902 -1986. Her father was a border control officer on the Swedish/Norwegian border in Lommeland, Sweden, Bo Harald Reichenberg 1875-1946. A number of distant relatives with the name of Reichenberg are still living in Sweden and Norway.
She indicated that the name originated from a village in Pilsen, now in the Czech Republic, on the Bohemian border to Germany. How it later appeared further north is in the dark.
