Hello Mimi,

Thanks a lot for the e-mail.

First, here's all the information I have about the Reichenbach(s) in my family... unfortunately, they did not keep many records:

Shmuel Reichenbach marries Miriam ????.
His children are:
1. Shalom Reichenbach, my grandfather, born in Siedlce Poland, died in Israel in 1962.
2. No'ach Reichenbach - no info about this person.
3. Sima Reichenbach - murdered by the Nazis in 1940.

1. Shalom Reichenbach, my grandfather marries my grandmother, Scheindel Rogowykamien. Children are Tsiporah, Miriam (my mother) and Carmela.
3. Sima Reichenbach marries Shlomo (Zalman/Solomon) Gelbfish. The Gelbfish(s) are related to Shmuel Gelbfish, later known as Samuel Goldwyn, the "G" in the MGM Company (Metro Goldwyn Meyer).

I recently got some hand written birth certificate for some members of my family from the Siedlce archives in Poland (near Lublin). I am about to translate them from "ancient Russian" into English. For the Reichenbach(s), I ordered the record for Sima Reichenbach - see below.

I also got a spreadsheet of all the Reichenbach(s) from Siedlce. See below (Type "M" is marriage and type "B" is birth, the year is the year of the document):

YEAR       ACT#       TYPE       SURNAME Polish       FIRST NAME Polish
1885       36       M       RAJCHENBACH       Szmul
1885       36       M       RAJZMAN       Maryjem
1886       80       B       RAJCHENBACH       Ajzyk Mejer
1886       81       B       RAJCHENBACH       Wulf
1897       229       B       RAJCHENBACH       Sima
1897       230       B       RAJCHENBACH       Jochweta
1897       231       B       RAJCHENBACH       Chana
1897       232       B       RAJCHENBACH       Gerszko
1897       236       B       ROGOWYKAMEN       Maryiam
1897       237       B       ROGOWYKAMEN       Abram

The last name Reichenbach clearly tells us that originally the people are from the town of Reichenbach in Germany. So, VERY likely, all Jewish people with the last-name Reichenbach are related. I will send you a separate e-mail about the last-name Reichenbach for your info.

The Reichenbach(s) in my family (i.e. my grandfather and his sister Sima) are relatively tall people with narrow yet long nose.

That's all I have.

The fact that the names Shmuel, Sima and Miriam Reichenbach are also in your family tree hints that we are probably related.

I am attaching a picture of my grandfather, Shalom Reichenbach and a very bad picture of Sima Reichenbach.

My aunt Tsiporah is the oldest surviving Reichenbach in my family (lives in Tel Aviv) but she does not remember much.

As for my self, I live in NJ but I was born and raised in Israel...

Do you see any connection to my Reichenbach branch of the family?

I will keep you posted when I have the Sima Reichenbach birth certificate translated...

Ron Herrmann
