Sophia Reichard, 1850 census Pottsville
Looking for any leads on the origins of a Sophia Reichard, b. 1822 PA, who appears in the 1850, 60, 70 and 80 census records in Pottsville, Schuylkill county PA. Had a sister Rachel b. abt. 1825, married to a Samuel Young, couple lived in Blythe Twp. Schuylkill County in 1870. An Edward Reichard was with this couple, age 17, no relationship given.
Sophia was born about 1820 PA, parents born PA, married to an Amos McDanel, b. 1816 PA, parents b. PA. Couple lived in Pottsville. Also Lyman McDaniel, b. abt. 1821 in PA, parents born PA, married to an Elmira Hopkins by Rev. Eyer, Reformed minister of Catawissa Columbia county PA.
The Reichard women may be out of Columbia County, Elmira Hopkins McDaniel was a great-granddaughter of Caleb Hopkins, grand-daughter of Uzal Hopkins. I believe a Reichard line went to Columbia early and the Hopkins family was in the area where they resided.
Any thoughts or clues welcomed regarding the identity of the parents of Sophia and Rachel Hopkins, and the location of their births. I believe the two McDaniel males in Pottsville in this census were from Mahoning Twp., Carbon, then Northampton County PA.
Thank you for any thoughts on this.
Sincerely,
Judy
