Catharine Reffitt married Martin Van Buren Adams in Floyd Co, Ky in 1867.James Reffitt was bound as surety jointly with Martin Van Buren Adams.Catharine was listed as 20 years old, Martin was 30.In 1873, Katharine Reffitt married James Burke in Johnson Co, KY.It was listed as her first marriage. She was 25 per the marriage bond. In 1880, she and William Burke were listed in the Johnson Co Census along with a son, John Burke, age 13.In 1900, Katy is listed in the Census as Catharine Salyers, husband William in Floyd Co, KY.Nearby is a Patton family, first name of the head-of-family is unreadable, but his wife is named Dolly. In 1910 and 1920, Catharine and William Salyers show up in the Census, first in Floyd, then in Johnson.I know this is the daughter of James Reffitt as I have copies of several letters she wrote to James Green Reffitt, my great grandfather. The last letter is postmarked in 1918.The 1910 Census shows her as having 3 children, only one of which is still alive.I think William Salyers and William Burke are the same person, but can't prove it.Don't know what happened to the child John Burke, but he was about the same age as your John Patton. I've always assumed John Burke was William's son by a first marriage. Now I wonder.Email me at [email protected]'d like to get more indepth with this.Thanks.
