Beverly....I don't want to get too far "off track" here, but here is what I know about Green Berry Davidson/Davison.There is a woman who is named Yvonne Warner, and she wrote a large book on the family of the Daniel Davison/Davisson who lived in New England in the early/mid-1600s.That book shows Green Berry Davison as being a son of an Andrew Davison and a Miss Graham, and hence, the book claims that this Andrew Davison was a descendant of the "early" Daniel Davisson. We have numerous male Davison/Davisson DNA donors from the overall family of that "early" Daniel Davisson, and they are in DNA "Family 2" at www.davidsongenes.org.
The above Andrew Davison, however, is shown in the referenced book as a younger half-brother of an Edward Davison (who married Elizabeth Torrence). We have a male Davison DNA donor who shows that Edward Davison as his ancestor....but that DNA donor matches DNA "Family 8" versus "Family 2."I currently SUSPECT that Green Berry Davison was, in fact, a member of DNA "Family 8" versus "Family 2"....but I would hate to have bet on it.
Note: Without the benefit of DNA testing results, incorrectly "intermixing" unrelated Davidson/Davison/Davisson families is VERY easy to do.We have identified about a DOZEN (!!!) UNRELATED Davidson/Davison/Davisson families in just Virginia alone!
Note: The parents of the above Andrew Davison are shown as John Davison and his second wife Susannah Jackson. They married in Lincoln Co., KY in the early/mid-1780s.The mother of Edward Davison (Andrew Davison's older half-brother) is shown as a Miss Askins.
Most of the male DNA donors in "Family 8" are descendants of the Reverend Alexander Davidson/Davison who moved from Spotsylvania Co., VA to NC, and who then moved again to Barren Co., KY.The Reverend had some uncles and brothers, however, and it APPEARS that the DNA donor mentioned above (who is out of Edward Davison and Elizabeth Torrence...and hence, presumably also out of John Davison and his first wife Miss Askins) was from one of those other "branches" of "Family 8."
As you know, Green B Reeves fathered a son who was named George Washington Reeves (born around 1841 in LA, as I recall). The male Davison DNA donor whose DNA matches the DNA of Dr. Reeves (an apparent descendant of Green B. Reeves) and that other Reeves DNA donor (an apparent descendant of Ambrose Reeves) has an "earliest proven male Davison ancestor" who was named George Washington Davison.Other than the DNA results, however, I have no proof at this point that George Washington Davison was "closely associated" in any way with George Washington Reeves, nor do I have any proof that Green B. Reeves (born about 1808) was "closely associated" in any way with Green Berry Davison (born about 1820).
There were also some members of my DNA "Family 10" in Coryell Co., TX in 1880 (James Madison Davidson and some of his descendants). It is POSSIBLE that George Washington Davison was named for THAT family....though members of "Family 10" were/are TYPICALLY shown on court records as "Davidson" versus "Davison" (but it is "dangerous" to rely on the spelling as proof of which family is being addressed). James Madison Davidson left Hickman Co., TN, and he was then in Louisiana for a while, before moving again to Texas.
Anyway, we will continue to research this, and I will certainly post again if we learn anything new that might be of help to the researchers of the DNA "Group 4" Reeves family.
