Obituary
Death of a Good Woman
Mrs. L.M. Reeves passed away Friday after a prolonged illness, aged seventy-one years, and her death takes from this world a most excellent Christian lady.
As Elizabeth Hand she was born in Randolp county, Ala., and was united in marriage there with Mr. Reeves forty-six years ago.They came to Cedartown not long after and this has been their home ever since.
Four children were born to them, two dying in infancy.A son, Mr. William B. Reeves, served as County Treasurer, and died a few years ago.A daughter, Mrs. John Mee, survives to share the grief of the bereaved husband.
The deceased was a faithful member of the Baptist church, with which she united in early girlhood, and was a woman of consecrated life.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday by her former pastor, Dr. C.K Henderson of LaFayette, assisted by Rev., C.C. Heard, followed by interment in Greenwood cemetery.

Final Rites Held For Mrs. Reeves
Funeral services for Mrs. Laura Locke Reeves, 74, who died at her home on South Broad Street Friday afternoon after an extended illness, were held Sunday afternoon at the First Presbyterian church with the Rev. Harry Petersen and Rev. Walter Moore conducting.Interment was in the Greenwood Cemetery with the Lester B. Litesey Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Reeves, the former Miss Laura Locke, was born in Gordon county, Georgia, and moved to Polk County at the age of 16.She married Mr. William Braton Reeves, of Cedertown in 1887.Mr. Reeves preceded his wife in death in 1907.Mrs. Reeves had been a member of the First Presbyterian church in Cedertown since 1881.
Mrs. Reeves is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Lamar Gilliam, of Abbeville, SC, Mrs. John Bobo, of Silvercreek, Ga., Mrs, J.E. Morris, of Sasadena, Calif., Mrs. George Colbert and Mrs. A. L. Lee, of Cedartown, and two sons, W. B. Reeves and Charles H. Reeves, of Cedartown; six grand-children and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were W.H. McGinnis, C.B. Hutchins, S.S. Horton, Grahan Norman, Wiley Hand, and George Vance.

A YOUNG MAN'S DEATH
The Americus Recorder has the following who say of an excellent Cedartown young man, whose death at Andrews, SC, was chronicled in this paper last week:-
"Americus friends will learn with widespread regret of the death at Andrew, SC, of Marion Reeves, until a year ago a popular Seaboard Air Line conductor, who numbered his friends here by the hundreds.He was twenty-five years of age, and two years ago married Miss Inez Muak, of Americus, who survives him.
"The remains were brought here for interment, and the funeral was under the auspices of the Order of Railway Conductors, of which deceased was long a member.Rev. Lansing Burrows officiated at the burial ceremony,"

Lamar Gilliam, Sr. first asked to marry him, Mary Lucia Cheatham- she declined.Mary Lucia Cheatham was the sister of John Tompkins Cheatham.The daughter of John Tompkins Cheatham, Frances Perrin Cheatham, married his son, Albert Lamar Gilliam, Jr.
He was an alcoholic.He would have Frances Cheatham Gilliam drive him to Augusta GA for treatment then called "the drying out place."

MR. AND MRS. CHARLES REEVES CELEBRATE 50TH ANNIVERSARY
Mr. and Mrs. Charles H. Reeves celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary Sunday, July 23, with a reception at their home, 207 Prior Street, from 3:00 to 5:00.
Mrs. Reeves greeted Guests attired in a lime green street length dress.Her corsage was of golden rosebuds tied with narrow golden satin ribbons.Mr Reeves boutonniere was a miniature golden yellow flowers and greenery were also used at vantage points in the reception rooms.
The anniversary table, covered in white linen, was decorated with an epergne arrangement of golden roses and the embossed three-tiered white anniversary cake topped with an arrangement of white tulle, lily of the valley and white wedding bells with small golden clappers.The table also held a silver punch bowl of golden fruited punch and trays of assorted party dainties.The cake was embossed with 50th wedding anniversary and small yellow roses; napkins were gold-imprinted "Charlie and Lillian".
Approximately 100 guests called during the reception hours.Guests included family, friends and neighbors and members of the Sunday School classes of the honorees.Fifteen guests from out of town included 13 members of Mrs. Reeves' family and family connections from Pine Hill, Ala.; her grandson Donnie Reeves from Marietta, Ga., and her maternal aunt Mrs. Elizabeth Camp of Chattanooga, Tenn.
Mrs. Reeves, the former Lillian Shiflett of Pine Bower Community, is the daughter of the late Jim and Ada McCorry Shiflett.Mr. Reeves is the son of the late W.R. and Laura Locke Reeves of the Locke Lake Community, Cedartown.
