Reeves/Teague marriages NC/TN c 1800-20
In trying every approach to trace the parents of my maternal gggrandfather Adam Reeves Teague, born TN 1822, drowned IL 1850, married to Mary Shoptaugh in 1847, I accidentally came across a William Teague from Ashe County NC, born 1816/17 -- who was listed as "suffering from curvature of the spine" during a med exam in the Civil War. This is a prominant inherited condition in my mother's maternal Teague family so this may be the right geographical area to have fostered the connection to the Reeves family. This William Teague and a Hardin Reeves were the same age, were mustered the same day, went (or were listed as) AWOL on the same day, reappeared later. There were many Reeves families living in the same area at that time, I am hoping this army notation somehow could provide the key for how/when/who the families connected and unearth my ggggrandparents at last. These two 47/48 yr old Ashe County men could have been old family friends, cousins, brothers in-law. Some NC Teague and Reeves may have married, and moved to TN (by 1822) where my gggf was born, while some stayed or later returned to NC? Any knowledge, direction or ideas on this Reeves/Teague connection are very welcome and appreciated.
