Here are some random notes referencing documents linking the Evans and Reeves families.
4 October 1811 – Georgia passport issued to John L. Evans and Nathan Simms with wife children and two Negroes from Franklin County to travel through the Indian Nations to the Western Country.
4 December 1811 – John L. Evans married Lavina Reeves in Jasper County, Georgia.
1820 – John Evans and Jeremiah Evans are listed in Oglethorpe County, Georgia census on pg 111.
7 January 1829 – Jeremiah Evans sold land to William Reeves, both of Butts County, Georgia described as Monroe County (now Butts Co) Lot #140.Listed in Butts County Deed Book B, pages 15-16.
1830 – Jeremiah Evans is listed in Meriwether County, Georgia census on page 168.There is another adult male living with him whose age matches John Evans.
1830 – Avery Reeves listed in Jasper County, Georgia census on page 392.
15 December 1848 – Joshua and Jemina Reeves sold land (lengthy description in Section 30/31 Twp 20 Range 22E) to Conrad and William R. Baker.
1850 – Joshua Reeves listed in Tallapoosa County Census on page 88.
29 May 1851 – Reuben and Elizabeth Stringfellow sold land (NE ¼ SW ¼ Section 33 Twp 20 Range 22E) to William and Warren Evans.Deed was witnessed by David Evans and Joshua Reeves.
13 January 1852 – Bounty land warrant used by John L. Evans to obtain 40 acres of land (NE ¼ SW ¼ Section 32 Twp 20 Range 22E) based on service in the War of 1812.Certificate lists John L. Evans as a private in Capt Lanes’ Company of the Georgia Militia.
9 January 1858 – A. J. Reeves (administrator of the estate of Joshua Reeves) sold land (SE ¼ NE ¼ Section 33 Twp 20 Range 22E) to Lavina Evans.
19 December 1859 – David E. and Rebecca Evans sold land (NW ¼ Section 33 Twp 20 Range 22E) to Lewis Jerman.Deed was witnessed by William Evans and W. W. Hamby.
19 December 1859 – W. R. and Mary Evans sold land (SE ¼ SE ¼ Section 28 Twp 20 Range 22E) to Lewis Jerman.Deed was witnessed by William Evans and W. W. Hamby.
6 August 1860 – William P. Evans and Warren F. Evans sold land (NE ¼ SW ¼ Section 33 Twp 20 Range 22E) to Lavina Evans.Witnessed by A. J. Reeves and Julianna Crooms.
25 May 1861 – William and Lavina Evans sold livestock and crops to Joseph Johnston, Jr. for $1.
3 September 1861 – A. J. Reeves and William Evans served as bondsmen for the marriage of A. J. Reeves and Martha A. Threadgill.
28 January 1863 – A. W. Reeves and Walter R. Evans (my ggg-grandfather) served as bondsmen for the marriage of A. W. Reeves and Mary A. Golden.
23 March 1869 – Lavina Evans willed land (SE ¼ NE ¼ Section 33 Twp 20 Range 22E) to her daughter J. C. Tippet effective upon her death.Witnessed by John Y. Johnston and David Rhodes.
18 July 1870 – W. R. and Mary Evans borrowed $400 from W. A. Shaw using cotton crop as collateral.
5 December 1874 – David E. and Rebecca Evans sold land (NW ¼ NE ¼ and N ½ NW ¼ Section 10and SE ¼ SW ¼ Section 3 and SW ¼ SW ¼ Section 3 Twp 20 Range 22E) to John W. Johnston.
23 March 1876 – J. P. Oliver, B. R. Crabble, and C. H. Fergerson (commissioners appointed by the Probate Court) sold land (W ½ SW ¼ Section 17 Twp 21 Range 23E) from the estate of F. Cook (deceased) to David Evans.
7 November 1885 – W. R. and A. M. Evans sold land (W ½ SW ¼ Section 34 Twp 20 Range 22E, NE ¼ SW ¼ Section 34 Twp 20 Range 22E, and SW ¼ NW ¼ Section 3 Twp 19 Range 22E) to W. H. Payne.
17 September 1888 – Rebecca Evans (widow of David Evans) and their children:W. R. Evans, D. E. Evans, Mrs. N. C. Thompson, J. J. Evans, and J. Y. Evans sold land (E ½ SW ¼ Section 17 Twp 21 Range 23E) to W. T. Veasey.Signed by Rebecca Evans, W. R. Evans, David Evans, Nancy C. Thompson, J. J. Evans, J. Y. Evans, L. H. Evans, M. J. Evans, and M. F. Evans.Note:J. J. and M. F. Evans signed the deed in Neshoba County, Mississippi on 8 October 1888.
