Maybe this will help. Samuel Newell Reeves lived in Morgan County Ala. before the civil war. He was the son of Ichabod reeves, and was married to Melvina Hodges. They had the following sons: Simeon, John R., Willis A., Francis W. and Newell. After the war, 4 of these sons went to Texas. Simeon married lydia Rutherord and moved to Cooke County Tx. Francis, Willis, and John R. all married sisters (all in 1872); the three Cooke sisters in Desoto County Miss. and then moved to Red River Co. Tx. In the 1880 Red River County census. Willis and francis can be found along with their families. My grandfather was the son of John Rufus Reeves. It appears that his first wife, Amelia Cooke had died by 1881 for he remarried in Red River County. My grandfather told me that his father had a brother in Red River County named Abner, who was a country Doctor. Apparently this was Willis A. Reeves. By 1910 Willis Abner had remarried too, this time to Annie Dora Stewart. The children listed in the 1910 census were Sarah and Emma(annie's daughters) also Mary and Willie( Willis' daughters) W.A.Reeves and Annie are buried in Woodland Cemetery in Red River County.
