Hi Beth,
I have researched this family quite extensively, but have not found a Louisa Reel as a sister of John A Reel whose biography you refer to. Unless, Louisa could be a nickname. John A Reel is my second great grandfather.
The John A Reel in the biography is the son of John A Reel Sr. and Sarah Beeson. Their children were: William, Martha, Jane, Daniel, Elizabeth, John A Jr. and Joseph H.
Some of these children remained in Putnam Co. IN., while others including John A Jr. are found in Harrison Co. IA.
I have all with marriages, but none to a Thomas Henry Cook.
However, the land sales transaction does sound like a connection somewhere. I have about 265 with the Reel surname from Germany > Franklin Co. VA > Montgomery Co. OH.> Putnam Co. IN > Harrison Co. IA.
